A round-up of May 2021

I just haven’t had the writing bug this year, but that’s okay, as pictures tell a thousand words! We headed up to Hervey Bay for a weekend away to attend a wedding, and we made a 4-day weekend out of it, staying at an AirBNB in Toogoom. It was magic! This was at our doorstep:

Honestly the weather was absolute perfection, as was the wedding! My dear friend Kate drove all the way up on Saturday to look after the kids for us while we went to the wedding and she did an incredible job. It helps a lot that they all love her to bits. Me all dressed up for the wedding and everyone looking at the camera!!!

The day after we got home, this big guy turned 4!!!

There were, of course, several celebrations and several cakes!

Piñatas seem to be standard at our birthday parties these days…

We then gave the kids a HUGE surprise, with Uncle Khicken and Aunty Kate arriving from Melbourne just before the Covid cases hit (they got tested to put everyone’s mind at ease!) I couldn’t tell the kids that they were coming just in case the trip got cancelled, as it has twice in the last 12 months!! So instead I picked K&K up from the airport with Jules, and the four of us surprised the three kids at school pick up. It was a reunion that brought the biggest smiles to their faces, and tears to my eyes. Truly magic.

It’s been an absolute treat having them here. The kids have missed them SO MUCH (okay, I have too).

Just an Aunty, with two of her nephews, playing a game about dinosaurs, while having a “back cuddle” 🙂

Then it was Dad’s turn to have a birthday! I’ll write a separate post about that.

I let the kids have a day off school so we could all go to Australia Zoo last Tuesday. Darby playing tourist:

Kris and Kate leave on Tuesday (unless I can convince them to staaaaaaaaaaay a little bit longer!) and we have just treasured our time with them. I truly hope it won’t be another 18 months until we can see them again!!!!
