My darling Chance.

Ten years and 13 hours ago, I became a mum to my first outside baby. I had no clue what I was doing; I just knew that my heart was overflowing with love for you and that it was going to be the start of something magical.

We figured things out together along the way. You’d get hungry, I would feed you; you’d get tired, I’d rock you to sleep; you’d need a new nappy, I’d say it was time for cuddles with Dadda…..

You were so forgiving of my mistakes; you still are. You are a sensitive, kind young man and you are going to be taller than me in a few short years.

I love that I can have cool conversations with you now, and that you can genuinely make me laugh with a joke or a funny story. You have big ideas, big dreams, a softness about you, and you are a loyal friend. It filled my heart with joy yesterday, to see you with five of your friends from very different parts of your life, brought together by you, and having a marvelous time.

So on this very special day, I want to say happy birthday to you. You bring so much fun and curiosity to our lives, and I cannot wait to see what the next year has to offer you.
