Another birthday wrapped up for us – it’s that time of the year! Darby turned 11 at the start of December and we had a little party with some family and friends to help him celebrate. In the week before his birthday, he found out that he had been successful at being elected Events Captain for his final year at primary school (how???) He was so excited, especially since his very good friend is a co-captain with him.
He received a voucher to go Go-Karting for his 10th birthday and we finally got around to booking it in, a day before his 11th birthday, with his good mate and siblings and Marty and his mates’ dad.

We then followed it up with a party at home – it’s what we do best! We blew up the water slide bouncy castle and watched over the next few hours as a bunch of mostly 11 year olds pushed it to the limit! None of us could quite believe that after hours of punishment, it was still standing at the end!!

(I did my best, Darby was happy)

It was Darby’s actual birthday the next day, and we were lucky enough to have Marty and Thomas with us for the morning which was lovely as always. We went for a morning swim at a friend’s place, then had an easy takeaway lunch and an equally easy afternoon. We decided on a doughnut stack for cake that night which made everyone happy!
Darby is so full of life and big ideas (one of which is to grow his hair long) and is so creative (he and two friends have been writing graphic novels called “a tale of Kaptain Kooka”) and his energy is often hard to match; he really is an incredible kid. We love seeing him grow and become a loyal friend, a caring brother, and a truly lovely son. We are so proud of him and cannot wait to see what the final year of primary school brings! Love you Darby. Mama xx
