We spent the weekend celebrating Julius turning 8 and we all had such a lovely time as always. We had a party for him at home on the Saturday, with some of his school friends, and some of our friends and families. It had been raining on and off for a week (or more??) so Chance didn’t get to mow the lawn (he was obviously very disappointed!), but thankfully the weather was beautiful on the day!

We had the obligatory Piñata which only lasted one round of everyone having a turn, thanks to Chance demolishing it with one final swing!

Julius helped me make and decorate his cake this year. He is fully into soccer, and thankfully a rectangle soccer pitch with some white lines and little figurines on top is nice and simple!

A lovely afternoon was had by all, and Julius thanked everyone for coming and said he was having a lovely time. And yes, that’s Chance showing everyone how short I am compared to him… 🙂

The next day was Julius’ actual birthday, and he requested opening his gifts in his bed, and the kids decided to all join him!

We had pancakes for breakfast, then went to watch Chance play his AFL game at Sandgate (they won), and then had a very chill rest of the day of not doing much. Kate came over for some painting, there was screen time, then Gran and Grumpy and Chris and Ally came over for birthday dinner.

This kid exudes joy and gratitude and love and kindness. He is loved by his friends and completely adored by his family. He helps me around the house with cooking and cleaning, often offering before he’s even been asked. He can be a bit shy at times, but it doesn’t take long for him to come out of his shell. He will ask people “how is your day today?” and “are you having a good time?” He’s so empathetic and sensitive and affectionate and we all just love him to bits.
Happy Birthday Little J. We can’t wait to see what the next year brings xx
