So in case you haven’t heard, apparently there is a cyclone that has decided to travel further south than most, and might be headed straight towards us, due to make landfall on Thursday afternoon.

As many of you know, this is not our first experience with a cyclone. Back in 2015, just after we had moved to Rockhampton, and two days after the house we bought settled, Cyclone Marcia hit Yeppoon as a Category 4, then came to Rocky and wreaked havoc on the town. By the time it got to us, it was “only” a Category 2, but it caused a LOT of damage, with power out for a couple of weeks.

I was very grateful to have Mum and Dad staying with us at the time – they were up for Quinn’s birthday and to help us move and settle in, and they were (and always are) such a God-send. We ended up staying around for only two nights after, then came down to Brisbane until power was restored.
It’s hard to imagine it being that bad this time around, but we are doing our best to prepare for the worst. I’ll be sand-bagging downstairs in the hopes that we can keep the flooding to a minimum. The kids are all hoping school will be cancelled on Thursday. I’m just hopeful that we all stay safe and that the house holds up okay. I’ll keep you posted xx
