Graduating from primary school to high school is a bit more of a big deal than when I was a kid. For our “graduation”, if I remember correctly, we had our usual Friday morning assembly, and all the year 7s (which was the final year of primary, back in my day) got up on stage and sang along to the Boyz II Men power ballad “End of the Road“. Arm and arm with tears streaming down our faces, that was about the extent of it! These days it’s a bit of a big deal!
The school puts on a ceremony and dinner for the parents, but one of the school dads wanted something a bit extra so he kindly put on a shindig at a local RSL and the kids had the best night of their lives! There was food, drinks, a photo booth, and SO much dancing. Quinn really was part of a very special cohort, of both kids and parents. So grateful!
Though seemingly Chance’s graduation didn’t make the cut two years ago as I can’t find a post about it! My bad. Here’s some photos from that night…
So last week we had Quinn’s class’ ceremony and it really was a lovely night. We had our hair done especially for it and thankfully it was a nice cool evening. The school did a fantastic job for the and it was a lovely send-off for the kids.
But the graduation celebrations didn’t stop there! On their final final day of school, they all met down at the water front at Sandgate, and did a (very long) run into the water, in school uniform. The mums and dads brought along a bunch of food to share and it was a lovely send-off and sign-off to an amazing chapter in all our lives.
I have no doubt we will keep in touch, and there will be many more memories to come as we embark on high school. The kids are going to a number of different schools, and I know they will all be brilliant, wherever they go. Thanks for the memories!
